Zuhra Al Baraka Original Print
Block print on watercolor, 300g/m paper
~ 6x4.5 in
edition of 40
This original print series incorporates a stylized nigella damascena blossom, known as the flower of blessing, with the protective evil-eye symbol, and the Arabic word “baraka” or blessing. The pieces reference ancient SWANA cosmologies with the 8-pointed star of Ishtar, a symbol that has transformed and embedded itself in Islamic design. The hand carved block print is laid over a unique watercolor painting, making each piece distinct in color, mood, and energy.
A note on sliding scale: I offer my work at a price range for trans and queer BIPOC and disabled or differently abled folks who have less access to wealth. Purchasing at the higher end of the sliding scale helps me keep my work sustainable and allows me to offer the lower range. Thank you
